PASTOR’S MESSAGE
The Holidays: A Season of Joy or Sorrow: Both
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18, NRSVue)
Some of us are excited for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. Others may find this season difficult because it feels like there’s not much to celebrate. Many people experience both feelings, sometimes at the same time.
This might be your first holiday season without someone you love. Or maybe money worries feel overwhelming right now.
If you have mixed or difficult feelings about the holidays, you’re not alone. Help is available, and I am here for you. Please don’t feel you have to keep it to yourself. God and I are not judging you. Your feelings are real. They do not mean you have failed or that something is wrong with you. You are not broken.
God understands what you are feeling and thinking. Our church is meant to be a safe place. Sometimes the world tells us to just get over it or that things aren’t really that bad. But here, we come together with both our joys and our sorrows. We support each other, and through that, we show God’s love.
No matter how you feel this holiday season, remember that you are loved and chosen by God. We are God’s people together. We share each other’s grief and celebrate each other’s joy.

We are a community
of faith that has been worshiping, learning, serving, and socializing for over 100 years.
The beautiful stained glass window sanctuary is accessible to all, and we encourage children to worship there as well or utilize the professionally staffed nursery. Communion is an important part of all Sunday services, and all who believe are invited to partake in the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
